Financial Aid

Schiller International University is an independent institution with limited funds for scholarships and grants. Students are encouraged to seek assistance through private or governmental grant or loan programs before applying to the university.

SIU participates in the following Title IV Programs:
· Federal Pell Grant Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (SEOG)
· Federal Work Study Program
· Federal Family Education Loan Program (FFELP)
· Veteran Training Program Benefits
These programs are financed by the U.S. government and are only available to qualified U.S. citizens and eligible non-citizens.

The university also participates in the Florida State Aid programs:
· Bright Future Scholarship
· Florida State Assistance Grant
and is approved for the U.S. Veterans Training Program.

SIU works with several alternative loans and international student assistance programs, including the International Educational Funding Corporation (IEFC), Canadian Loan Program, Botswana Assistant, Colombian; and Spanish private loans.

Students wishing to apply for such financial assistance from SIU should request a Financial Aid Package when applying for admission.
Inquiries may be addressed to the Financial Aid Office in our offices in Florida and Germany. Instructions on completing the required application materials will be provided.

SIU also offers a variety of scholarships and institutional grants based upon academic merit and financial need. These scholarships and institutional grants are given in the form of grants, with the minimum equal to one-eigth tuition and the maximum equal to one third, and scholarships with the minimum equal to one-eigth tuition and the maximum generally not exceeding one-half the tuition.

In all cases, a student's academic record will be reviewed, and in specified cases a student must show financial need.

However, financial aid applications will only be considered for students who have been accepted to the university. Deadline for receipt of applications for Schiller awards is 1 April for the fall semester and 1 October for the spring semester, and selection is made by a central committee. This committee will meet again in July to consider late applications if funds permit.
All students receiving financial aid are required to maintain satisfactory academic progress. All financial aid awards are made for one semester or academic year. Students wishing to renew their financial aid must reapply before termination date of their awards.
